Sarah Orrico weight loss story

Check out Sarah’s story and see how she lost weight and took control of her health.
Sarah Orrico’s Weight loss Story
Basically I have always been overweight, ever since I can remember (I am 20). I have struggled with my weight all my life and tried basically everything. From fitness camps for two summers,  WeightWatchers, NutriSystem, and a personal trainer. I basically tried everything that I could at such a young age and nothing worked. I would lose weight with a  few of the above but I could never keep it off. Growing up as an overweight teen was really hard because I was bullied a lot and had horrible self-esteem issues.
Around Christmas time last year I was at my heaviest weight and I didn’t even want to leave the house or see my friends because I was really depressed.I heard about a weight loss surgery from my mom I was really apprehensive about it and did not want to do it because I had heard bad things from other people who had it. I did a lot of research and made the decision to met with a surgeon and he told me that it was definitely a possibility to do the surgery. He recommended the Gastric Bypass surgery because I was so young and overweight that this would be the best option for me (I was considering the Sleeve).20140324-145242.jpg I remember crying when we decided to do it because I could finally see a light at the end of the tunnel I finally felt like there was hope for me. We set a date for  (July 31st 2013).
I started working out and eating healthy to prepare myself for my new lifestyle.  I started  my weight loss journey on June 5th and lost 35 pounds before the surgery.
I had surgery on July 31st and I have lost a total of 129 pounds (98 pounds since surgery). I honestly am so happy with the decision I made. I don’t like telling a lot of people because I’m afraid people will think I “took the easy way out”, but you know what, I have honestly been through hell doing this. I have tried to lose weight the natural way and I just couldn’t succeed no matter how hard I tried I really needed an extra push. It has been one of the hardest things I’ve done in my life. It is definitely NOT easy. I am so proud of myself and how far I’ve come. I am still continuing on my journey and can’t wait to see what happens in the future.
Thank you Sarah for taking the time to share your weight loss story  I wish you much success on this journey. If you would like to follow Sarah on her social media platforms for inspiration here are her handles

“She lifts do you?”

journeyofachocolatechicA few weeks ago I started a 12 week online weight training program and it has been hands down one of the most challenging fitness journey to date. This training has shown me how weak/strong I really am. I started the program because I wanted to build muscle so I started researching weight training programs online. I also begin to  ask friends for suggestions and one of friends shared this website  So I begin to check out all of the trainers on the site and choose the Jamie Eason program. Jamie’s program promises to help you to lose body fat along with gaining muscles and this is exactly what I was I was looking for. A few thA4HT4Q21weeks into the program and I begin to noticed that I was getting stronger and leaner…YES…… but don’t get me wrong I have not arrived I am still a work in progress.  I often think what if I would have started this program along with my weight loss program would I have reached my fitness goals by now?  Then I think “She, I ,her was not ready then. Every season comes with new challenges and this weight training program is my new challenge so please stay tuned for the good/bad and the ugly. Weight Loss Update!!!!!

beforenafterI featured my weight loss story back in May 2013 here is the link so you can read it . I was so afraid of sharing my before picture because I did not want people to see how much weight I had gained. Even though I had lost the weight I did not want people to see that I had gotten out of control. I finally decided to release my weight-loss article when I read a quote on Facebook that said “Do not be ashamed of your past, because you may inspire some one” . Though this journey I have insprised, coached and helped people to start juicing and living a healthier lifestyle. In helping others I have been able to reflect on how far I have come.

Who I was before I became healthy

  • I loved sweets. (candy,chocolate,chips,cookies)
  • I was very uneducated (did not read labels)
  • I feared what I became (overweight)
  • I was a couch potato ( NO.walk,run,yoga,weights)
  • I was so lazy ( Tv,internet,books,eating)
  • I was an emotional eater.(ate when sad or depressed)

How I have grown since becoming healthy unnamed

  • Research is key (cook books, documentary, blogs, you tube.)
  • I am a  vegan
  • I have been featured on 6 different weight loss platforms.
  • I am a vegan chef (wannabe that
  • I have lost a total of 65 pounds since 2009
  • Lost a total of 6 sizes since 2009
  • Started juicing in June 2013
  • Completed a 60 day juice fast
  • Watch health documentaries.
  • Weight train 3 days a week.
  • Cook every day.
  • Do not eat processed foods.
  • Juice breakfast and lunch.
  • Walk/run/ride bike/yoga.

If I can make this change to live a healthy life style so can you. If you have any questions please feel free to email me

Jay bird bluebuds X headphones give away!!!!!!!!

untitledJourney of a chocolate has partnered with Jaybird to bring you this great bluebuds X headphone give away. These headphones are great for the active person’s lifestyle. I know when I frist started  my fitness journey running/walking the trails of Atlanta,ga  in 2011 without music I quickly realized that I needed some hot beats. So I down loaded music to my blackberry as well as the  Pandora app for back up. I find that music helps me to  focus on completing the miles that are allocated for that day. I had my music and was ready for a great run BUT I had the other problem… I had to hold my blackberry as  I ran and this was very uncomfortable. Until one of my running buddies saw me  struggling  and she  told me about the arm band. I wish I would have had these Jaybird state of the art headphones. They are hands free and they have a life time guarantee against sweat damage. The buds are designed so that there is no slippage as you are running, lifting weight or doing yoga. You have the choice to where them on your neck or tightly fitted to the head with a band. Tightly fitted to the head makes life so much easier Freedom-Headphonesbecause you can really get into a zone.  If you are like me  and like listening to music while you run hands free then this give away is for you.  The cool thing about this give away is that JayBird is allowing everyone to enter into this give away every day. Which means every day there will be a winner and it just might be you. That is the best thing about entering this give away… Entering everyday gives you a much better chance of winning. If you want to purchase your very own pair of JayBird Headphones right now you can go to and if you want to enter  to win the give away you can go to I would love for one of my loyal fitness fanatics readers to win.. Good luck

After doing so I became inspired  by so many other beautiful people that are losing weight and getting healthy every day. So going forward I use my platform to share, encourage and motived others to get moving.

I would like to introduce to you Janet Riascos a 48 year who has proven that it is never to late to get back in shape…….

1. What was your aha in understanding you needed to lose weight? I saw that number on the scale that read 163 pounds. Along with getting winded when I walking up a flight of stairs.

2. How did you lose the weight? I lost the weight with the Beach Body challenge it is a combination of workout DVDs and Shakeology.

3. How much have you lost to date? I have lost 27 pounds and I have about 10 more to go until I reach my goal.

4.What keeps you motivated? What keeps me  is my children and becoming a Beachbody coach to pay it forward to others so we can end the obesity trend.

5. Are your family members supportive? Yes, my children and my husband are very supportive.

6. What were your set backs? Really this time around I haven’t had any the Beachbody challenge group is a very motivating team.

1095024_354263228040159_267691600_n7.What can you tell someone who is struggle to lose weight? I would say it is definitely hard work but it can be done. It  will be a lifestyle change and learning how to eat differently. We need to end this trend of obesity for ourselves and our families for generations to come. At age 48, I have done things that I did not even do in my 20s. This pass summer I did the Color Me Run 5k and Runyon 5K at Yankee Stadium, and my time was 34mins.

Thank you so much Janet for taking the time to share your story. I know you have inspired me and I am sure you have encouraged others to get to moving and get healthy. Good luck to you on your journey and I wish you much success.
